These stunning painted cabinets are based on the wonderful pieces produced for centuries in Shanxi province in central China, like our black lacquer model seen above. They are decorated with gold leaf and painted by hand, so each one is individual. For the Chinese the butterfly is a symbol of beauty and especially of marital happiness - often seen painted on armoires and trunks from Shanxi that were to be given as part of a bride's dowry. In a modern home our reproduction versions are suitable for use as TV cabinets (ask about our made to order service if you have a large TV), as drinks cabinets or for general storage. Each one has three removable shelves inside. Note that as they are decorated by hand, the painted designs on each cabinet can differ very slightly from the examples shown. Also available in red lacquer or cream lacquer. Other colours can be made to order.
